  2. No different adjustments seen
  3. Will go on sale in different markets quickly

Hilux MHEV: what’s it?

In pursuit of higher gasoline financial system and decrease emissions, the two.8-litre diesel engine on the Hilux will get a 48V mild-hybrid setup replete with an electrical motor generator and some different elements. Toyota had earlier claimed that the addition of this tech “is not going to have any impression on the Hilux’s off-road and towing capabilities.” Sources inform us that the Hilux MHEV will solely be accessible on the highest variants, with decrease trims getting it somewhat later.

Toyota says that the components for the mild-hybrid setup have been strategically placed, which allows for a water wading depth of 700mm. The brand has also claimed that this system will provide enhanced torque assist, smoother start/stop functions, regenerative braking and up to 10 percent better fuel efficiency compared to diesel-only powertrains.

Toyota MHEV introduction timeline

Apart from Europe, Toyota will launch the Hilux MHEV in South Africa, Australia and ASEAN markets in the near future. The 2.8-litre diesel engine on the Hilux also does duty on multiple Toyota models, including the Fortuner SUV, the recently introduced all-new Land Cruiser Prado and the up to date, retro-styled Land Cruiser 70. Toyota had earlier confirmed that the Fortuner is without doubt one of the subsequent fashions from the model to characteristic mild-hybrid tech.

Toyota regionally assembles the Fortuner and Hilux in India, and both models come with the same 2.8-litre diesel engine that has received the MHEV tech overseas.
